June 20, 2003 Kids ‘n Kamp Launches New Branding Initiative Kids ‘n Kamp, a Columbus-based, independent non-profit organization devoted to the social, educational and emotional needs of children with cancer, has initiated a branding campaign to commute the organization’s role as a “lifeline of support for families touched by childhood cancer.” A yellow ribbon, which is endorsed by the National Childhood Cancer Society as the official symbol of families touched by childhood cancer, serves as the focal point of a new Kids ‘n Kamp logo. The yellow ribbon is enclosed by a larger red heart, which symbolizes the love and support provided by members of the organization. “Our families refer to Kids ‘n Kamp as a lifeline of support,” said Beverly Circone, executive director and co-founder, Kids ‘n Kamp. “The core components of this lifeline remain learning, loving and supporting the needs of families touched by childhood cancer.” The Kids ‘n Kamp lifeline is extended through the organization’s Web site (www.kidsnkamp.org), which has also received a redesign. Site visitors can obtain information on programs and activities, communicate with others on a message board, learn about fundraising events, and how to be become a contributor to Kids ‘n Kamp. The organization, which began more than 20 years ago with a summer camp for child cancer patients, is today serving nearly 350 families through a variety of programs including family activities, support groups and scholarships. “The activities enable families to begin the healing process, which is vital to the strengthening of loving family ties,” Circone said. “Simple family fun is the intent of KNK outings but the results achieved are often much greater.” Eighty-four percent of the organization’s income is used to fund these programs. An annual gold ribbon support rally is planned for Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, at the Ohio Statehouse in downtown Columbus. September has been declared Childhood Cancer Awareness month in Ohio for the past two years. About Kids 'n Kamp
