Overview & Opportunities
As a non-profit organization, KNK relies on the generosity of individuals and corporations for
money and publicity. Since 1982, Kids 'n Kamp has dedicated its efforts to Children in the community who have Cancer. At our expense, we provide the 300 Children we serve with Tutoring, Counseling, Scholarships, Camper-ships, Educational Assessments and Family Activities.
The Children of Kids 'n Kamp are even more precious because they are suffering from a disease that has stolen their childhood and continues to threaten their lives. For them, the “future” means tomorrow…a day at a time…a treatment, an x-ray, a surgery…at a time.
Listed below are the current opportunities available:
Volunteer at or Support Our Annual Holiday Party
Our Holiday Party requires the assistance of nearly 100 volunteers and numerous financial supporters.
Volunteer at or Support a Family Activity
Each event is a little different from the other, but all require greeting and registering the families as they
arrive and supplying them with nametags. The Holiday Party, for instance, requires
the assistance of nearly 100 volunteers, while the Zoo Picnic can be aptly handled
with about eight volunteers. Some events, like the Halloween
Party, require hands-on help like showing the kids how to make scarecrows or helping them with craft projects
at Family Camp. Perhaps your company employees would love the chance to meet the kids
and help out at the same time!
Plan a New Family Activity
Perhaps your group of friends or club would like to plan an Easter Party for the kids
or an old-fashioned Halloween Party, filled with costumes, candy and crazy antics.
The KNK staff will assist you with location, donations and ideas...we just need energetic volunteers who love
planning fun for kids and making it happen!
Plan a New Fundraising Event
If your company, group or club would like to financially "sponsor" a family activity or a portion of the
tutoring or counseling services of KNK, perhaps you will plan an event to raise the money for that particular
program. Fundraising events can range from a cake sale to a paper airplane contest to a marathon. Your
"sponsorship" can remain anonymous or it can be proudly displayed at the event.
Participate in an Annual Fundraising Event
If you are interested in helping out in our fundraising events already in place, your assistance would be greatly
appreciated in the following:
- Mystery Night
The largest fundraising event of KNK takes place in October and is sponsored by WNCI and Key Bank. This is a
traveling mystery game in which the general public and corporations become detectives for an evening. After
enjoying pizza and soft drinks, they see a play filled with curiosities. At 7 p.m., they are given a starting
clue, told to run to their cars and rush to a location to interview a suspect about the crime. The teams of
detectives drive from location to location interviewing witnesses and searching for clues to solve the case.
About 70 volunteers are needed to solicit auction items, sell $1,200 corporate tables and sell advertising.
Volunteers are also needed during the evening to assist actors and direct detectives.
